What should toddlers eat for breakfast?
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, children who eat breakfast have better memory, healthier body weights, and improved overall nutrition. We know how important it is to eat a healthy breakfast, but figuring out what to feed toddlers for breakfast often presents a challenge!
A few ideas to get your toddler eating breakfast:
- Offer a variety of different foods. Try introducing new foods in small portions to give them a taste of everything. They might surprise you and love avocados or cottage cheese!
- Keep a go-to list. Write down a few foods that you know your toddler will eat. When mornings get super busy or a new recipe doesn’t work out, you will always have a fall-back list of ideas to grab quickly so breakfast doesn’t get skipped altogether!
- Freeze leftovers when possible so you have breakfast again in a day or two! (Pancakes, breakfast brownies, and oatmeal bars are items I usually freeze for up to 5 days.)
- Have a plan. Having a variety of breakfast ideas for your toddler will help you have a healthy breakfast plan every day. Keep an easy meal plan or have some recipes ready so you know what you want to make that day. (You can follow my Fun Kids Breakfast Ideas board on Pinterest for lots of ideas!)
