What kind of Harry Potter food can I make for dinner?
Accio chicken nuggets!
Hi, my name is Tara and I have Harry Potter problem.
Hi, everyone.
If I meet you and Harry Potter comes up in conversation (and it will ;)) I will ask you what Hogwarts House you are in. Then I will ask you if you’ve been to Universal Studios in Orlando because I love Harry Potter and I may be an annual pass holder at Universal even though I live 1,000 miles away.
See? A problem.
And I have passed this on to my children. My 3 year old knows his Hogwarts house and can name all four. You know you have created a problem when your 6YO asks for a Hogwarts robe for Christmas. And you get it. (and wonder if you can fit in it too- you know, for Halloween ;)).
Do you share our love of all things Potter?
…Or maybe you are just looking for a new dinner idea for kids that is healthy and homemade! This recipe would also make a sun Harry Potter party food idea!
No matter what brought you here, I know you will love these easy, healthy, homemade Harry Potter chicken nuggets! This recipe is simple to make using only two ingredients (plus some optional seasonings)! It’s a much healthier option than store-bought chicken nuggets since it is egg-free and baked in the oven.
Even a muggle can handle this simple recipe!
What do I need to make homemade chicken nuggets from scratch?
1 pound ground chicken
1 teaspoon garlic powder*
1 teaspoon onion powder*
2 cups bread crumbs (I use these organic bread crumbs or these gluten-free ones!)
Baking sheet
Parchment paper
*seasonings are optional and you can customize them however you like!
These are shaped differently than the Mickey Mouse chicken nuggets so be sure to read over the directions carefully!
How do I make Harry Potter chicken nuggets?
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Line a baking tray with parchment paper
Spread breadcrumbs on a plate (to dip the formed chicken nugget)
Add ground chicken a large bowl
Add seasonings and stir to combine (I use my hands to mash it all up). You can leave out the seasonings or switch them up to taste.
To form the “scar” shape: Start by rolling out a tube or log-like shape. (This is a lot like working with playdough!). Next, roll the log in breadcrumbs to coat. Lay the breaded log on the parchment paper and shape it into the lightning scar. It is much easier to shape after it has been coated in breadcrumbs!
To form the glasses: Use the same method of rolling the seasoned ground chicken into a log-like shape. Coat in breadcrumbs, move to parchment paper then form a circle. Repeat for a second circle. Next, make a small log (and coat) for the center node-bridge of the glasses.
Repeat until all ground chicken is used up.
Bake 20 minutes at 350. Thinner logs may ta,e less time to cook but if you made the shapes large and thick, they will take a few minutes longer. Cooking times will vary so always check for a safe internal temperature before eating!
