Preview: Healthy Halloween snack for kids: all the fun without all the sugar!
There isn’t a day that you could come in to my house and not find my kids in costume. If you bring your kids to my house, they will probably end up in costumes too. Everyone does. Even me, I have to admit. If my kids ask me, you may find me as Princess Anna or Tinkerbell. Won’t we Moms just do anything for our kids? ❤️
We have a LOT of costumes and dress up clothes/accessories. After Halloween, my mom and I grab a ton of costumes on clearance. We have gotten some amazing costumes at 90% off! And trust me, they get SO much use.
It occurs to me that we don’t have a ghost costume. Better grab one this year!

Since we love to dress up, it is super exciting that there is a holiday dedicated to just that activity. We have immersed ourself in Halloween. We have Halloween breakfast ghosts, vampire burgers, witch’s brew, bat snacks, and now yogurt ghosts. We have been playing monster Play-dough, making happy spiders, and playing with green apple scented Halloween moon dough (my favorite!).
Its a little hard to forget about the other big part of Halloween- the candy. The sugar. I can’t seem to avoid it so I do my best to find healthy alternatives where I can. Yogurt ghosts are a healthy Halloween snack idea without all the added sugar! They are super easy to make and fun for the kids to eat!
Healthy Halloween Snack- Yogurt Ghosts!
Here’s what you need:
- Baking tray
- Wax/parchment paper
- Yogurt, preferably white in color (a tube yogurt makes it easier to squeeze into ghost shape)
- Chocolate morsels
- Candy eyes
- Line baking tray with wax or parchment paper
- Cut open edge of yogurt tube
- Squeeze yogurt onto wax paper in the form of a ghost. Add small arms and a ghost tail.
- Place one chocolate morsel for the gjost’s mouth and two candy eyes
- Place baking tray on the freezer for at least 2 hours or until the yogurt is frozen solid
- Serve and eat immediately (the yogurt melts fast!)
(Parents should supervise while kids eat this snack since the small candies could cause choking)

I love to find ways to give my kids fun treats and still keep a healthy lifestyle. (If you do that too, I wrote a 3 part series on finding healthy ways to give kids treats. I’d love to share ideas with you!: Let Them Eat Cake! Part 1)
We can still have a fun Halloween that does not include a follow-up trip to the dentist! Not-so-scary and not-so-sugary are great ways to enjoy the holiday while still being safe and healthy. Yogurt ghost are a heathy Halloween snack for kids.. and for mom!
