Now they are back for Hocus Pocus 2! So of course you need ALL the most fun Halloween, Hocus Pocus, Sanderson Sisters recipes and snacks for the ultimate Hocus Pocus movie night!
This cake is super easy to make- the kids can even help- and it pairs perfectly with Witch’s Brew punch and all the cutest Halloween food ideas for kids!
Don’t forget to keep the kids busy making Halloween Fingerprint poems, Monster Trays, and Spooky Moon Dough so you can concentrate on the movie…and the snacks😉!
What ingredients are needed for a Hocus Pocus cake:
• 2 nine-inch round pans
• 1 box of cake mix, prepared according to package directions
• 1 3.4oz package (the small box) of instant pudding, prepared
• 1 can icing
• Food coloring (I used purple but you can use any color you like)
How to make this colorful Halloween cake:
- Grease 2 nine inch round pans and preheat oven (following directions on boxed cake mix)
- Make cake batter following the directions on the box
- Bake cake and allow to cool. Remove from pans and place each on a plate.
- Prepare pudding following the directions on the box and refrigerate (you can make this while the cake is baking)
- Once the pudding is set, add to the top of one cake and spread evenly. Place the second cake on top. Use toothpicks to hold the top cake in place since the pudding is slippery and the top can easily slide off!
- Melt icing tub by heating in the microwave for 15-20 seconds then stir. Pour over the top of the cake. (Optional) You can simply ice the cake if you don’t want to melt the icing to pour.
- Refrigerate for 15 minutes or until cool.
- Using the decorating icing, drizzle one color over the cake. Drizzle a second color (use as many colors as you like!). Add sprinkles while the drizzle icings are still wet to allow them to stick.
- Remove toothpicks before serving!
Recipe Notes:
– You can use any flavor box cake mix you would like! Add a few drops of food coloring to the batter if you want to change it to a spooky color!
– If you prefer cake from scratch, you can follow the S’more Cake directions and just leave out the cocoa powder!
-I used instant pudding ( I used vanilla but you can use any flavor/color you like!)
-Spread the pudding as evenly as possible but expect run-over. It helps the filling look like slime!
– Keep the cake refrigerated for up to 3 days.
